Hometown Christmas will be December 10th from 4:00-7:00pm. Here are some of the activities planned:

  • Free hot cocoa, roasted marshmallows, popcorn and entertainment at the park.  Santa and Mrs. Clause will be there to hand out candy sacks. (If the weather is bad, Santa will be at the Star Theater.)
  • Sign up for $100.00 in Chamber Bucks (First Prize) and $50.00 in Chamber Bucks (Second Prize) at the park and at the silent auction in the Mall.
  • Sleigh/Hayrack rides through town to tour the decorated houses.
  • Free kids movie (Shrek) at the Star Theater at 4 p.m.
  • Silent Auction of donated Christmas items from participating businesses
  • View and purchase crafts from local crafters at the mall from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) will be hosting a Festival of the Nativity at the Legion Hall.  There will be elegant to primitive Nativity displays to view from 4:00 to 7:00. Free will donations will be accepted for the KNGN Christian radio station.
  • The best decorated house/business will be receiving $75.00 in Chamber Bucks donated by Curtis Light and Water. The panel of judges will decide on the favorite home/business on the evening of Hometown Christmas. The winner of the contest will receive the chamber bucks.
  • Each business is encouraged to host an open house. We will not have drawing boxes at each business as we have in the past.  The drawing boxes for the Chamber Bucks will only be at the park and the silent auction.

We would also appreciate it if each business would donate a Christmas decoration/ornament for the silent auction.  The proceeds will be used to pay for the Chamber Bucks prizes. We will include your business name and whatever other information you want on the donated item for advertisement. If you are interested in donating a silent auction item, please deliver it to Peggy Fritsche at the First Central Bank Loan Production Office in the mall.

If you are not interested in hosting an open house for your business, please help out in another way.  There will be plenty of work to do at the park and at the movie theater.

There will also be lots of businesses holding open houses during this time also.
